Organization: The State of Maryland oversaw the reclamation project. Location: The Vindex Reclamation Project took place in Garrett County, Maryland. Overview: The abandoned Vindex Mine released up to 3,354 pounds of acid runoff a day. To prevent the run off a lime dozer was created to release lime into the run off. The dozer eliminated the chemical barrier obstructing fish migration. Maryland also filled in the mine shafts and replanted vegetation.
